Suren Stage Play “Love Letters” — Promotional Design
Role: Art Director
Client: Suren Drama Club
Category: Campaign Promotion & Visual System (2024)
Overview
For the 2024 stage production of Love Letters, I created a promotional visual system spanning posters, booklets, and digital assets. The tone needed to echo the play’s emotional themes of distance, reflection, and lifelong correspondence.
Design Challenge
The challenge was developing visuals that felt timeless, intimate, and literary, while adaptable across print and digital channels without losing emotional depth.
Approach & Visual System
I crafted an emotionally grounded visual system using a strong art-direction layer:
-
Letter-inspired textures: Envelope fibers, paper grain, and soft shadows created an analog, nostalgic tone.
-
Muted lighting & silhouettes: Reduced detail and soft contrast heightened emotional ambiguity and longing.
-
Stamp & postal symbolism: Motifs communicated distance and time while anchoring layout structure.
-
AI-assisted exploration: Midjourney helped generate atmospheric variations, later refined into cohesive poster and booklet compositions.
These stylistic elements were systemized into reusable components across all materials.
Outcome
The promotional suite conveyed the emotional core of the play while maintaining clarity in each format. The project demonstrates narrative art direction combined with structured production design. The show was a box office success as all tickets were sold out 3 days before the show began.
