U.S.Bank Geolocation mobile app

Role: Visual & Interaction Designer
Client: U.S.Bank (Internal Concept / Prototype)
Category: Mobile Concept & UX-Driven Exploration

Overview

This project was a concept exploration for a geo-location mobile app designed to help users discover nearby offers, services, and experiences related to their USB card benefits. The focus was on creating a clean, intuitive interface that leveraged location data to deliver timely, context-aware content while maintaining a consistent visual language.

Design Challenge

The primary challenge was balancing real-world context with clear, usable interface elements. Geo-location experiences can easily become cluttered or confusing if visual hierarchy isn’t strict and interactions aren’t predictable. The design needed to feel intuitive and lightweight, even when presenting dense information like offers, maps, and card features.

Approach & Visual System

I developed a mobile interaction concept grounded in simplicity and contextual relevance:

  • Clean, map-first layout: A portion of the screen remained dedicated to map visualization, with layered cards for nearby offers and actions.

  • Intent-driven UI states: States responded to user context — for example, filtering offers based on proximity or showing UI cues only when the device moves.

  • Modular card components: Offer tiles, action buttons, and informational overlays were built as reusable units for consistent behavior across screens.

  • Visual clarity: Bold iconography, clear type hierarchies, and consistent margins ensured quick scannability and minimal cognitive load.

  • Contextual engagement cues: Subtle transitions and location markers guided users through layered content without overwhelming them.

This approach brought structure and familiarity to a complex data flow, giving users a clear path to discover and act on nearby benefits.

Outcome

The concept demonstrates how geo-location data can be framed in a user-centric experience, balancing map visualization with clear actionable content. While not a finished product, it shows system-level thinking around modular UI components, responsive states, and contextual engagement — all valuable skills for product and interaction design.
